8901 Rosewood Lane N Maple Grove MN – SOLD

Open House

November 12, 2017 1-3 PM

4 Bedrooms | 3 Bathrooms | 3222 Square Feet

A home usually found only in the movies.  Exceptional spaces indoors and out.  Spend your sunny days outside in the yard, rainy days in front of the fireplace and breezy summer nights with the windows open in your three season porch.

This 1960’s built home has classic mid century charm and has been meticulously updated over the years to modern standards. You will love the hardwood floors throughout the living room, dining room and kitchen.  The versatile floor plan will adapt as your needs change over the years.  The living room can be formal or informal – although with the cute window seat and location in the front of the house, you will want to spend time here! The beautifully functional kitchen has white cabinets, a bead-board ceiling, granite counter tops, breakfast bar and center island at the perfect height for baking. The kitchen opens to a cozy hearth room complete with a wood burning fireplace. The adjacent dining room has a wall of built-ins with under cabinet lighting – giving you plenty of storage.  Walk out the patio door to the deck overlooking the spacious back yard – this is a great floor plan for summer evenings on the deck, or entertaining large or intimate gatherings inside and out.   The main floor office has the original refinished hardwood floors and is adjacent to a half -bath, this room has a closet and could function as a main floor 5th bedroom or guest room.

A dutch door opens from the hearth room to the laundry/mudroom with more storage.   Through the mudroom you will access the large 3-season porch that walks out to a patio and perfectly sized back yard. There is a shed with a picturesque barn door, and also an adorable playhouse, sand box and vegetable garden.  The fenced side yards offers plenty of room for play or pets.

Upstairs you will find four spacious bedrooms that also have the refinished, original hardwood floors, plenty of closet space and lots of windows making them all bright and sunny.  The master bedroom has a private 3/4 master bath and wall of closets.

The down stairs family/amusement room features real knotty pine planking throughout!  There is a gas fireplace and built in entertainment cabinets.  The egress window brings in plenty of light to this level and would make it easy to add an additional bedroom.   The heating is provided by a hot water boiler that is only 3 years old.  Don’t worry, this home has central air, and a working well providing the outside (free!) water to the in ground sprinklers.

Seller Interview:

What do you love about the city or area your home is in?

We are very close to the Maple Grove town green (outdoor movies in the summer), central park (splash pad in the summer, skating in the winter), the library, main street, and lots of parks and trails. Everything is within walking or biking distance. We also live on the Maple Grove days parade route. It comes right down our street.

Favorite restaurants and shops in the area:

We like to eat at the Lookout (walking distance), Granite City, Claddaugh, and whatever food truck is parked at Omni Brewing.

Where do you go for groceries?

We shop for groceries at Cub and Target. Trader Joe’s and Whole foods are close too.

Key points about the property that we were drawn to?

When we bought the property we were drawn to the big yard, and the character of a house built in 1960. Both are rare in Maple Grove.  We love the privacy of this corner lot. People might think 89th avenue is a busy road, but the speed limit is 35MPH and the only real traffic is a few school and city buses in the morning and afternoon. Behind our fence we don’t even think about it until we leave the house. The sidewalks on 89th put the elementary school, bike paths, churches, and restaurants all within easy reach without ever having to walk on a street. The convenience of sidewalks, bike paths, bus routes, and the Maple Grove Days parade all right outside our door far outweigh the minimal traffic that goes by here.

What schools do kids here attend?

This home is located in the Osseo School District.  Elementary School – Rice Lake Elementary, Osseo Middle School and Maple Grove Senior High School

What updates/improvements have you made to the home since purchase?

– New garage doors
– Exterior paint
– Reclaimed and landscaped side yards on both sides, sodded, and built new fence.
– Added all hardwood on the main floor
– Removed carpet in one bedroom and the main floor office, exposing original hard wood. Refinished.
– Removed dated wall covering in fireplace room on main floor. Sheet-rocked. Added new lighting fixtures and rebuilt fireplace hearth in that room too.
– Added new granite countertops to kitchen.
– 8 new interior solid core doors, new case, base, chair rail, and crown molding in most of the house.
– 4 new windows (Living room, Northwest and Northeast bedrooms). New closet doors in these rooms too.
– New gas fireplace in basement.
– New hot water heater.
– New high efficiency boiler.
– Removed closet in laundry room and built cabinets and bench to convert to mud room.

What do you do for interest and hobbies in the area?

We enjoy the bike paths and parks here. You can ride paths all the way to Bloomington if you want. There are many ponds, creeks, trails, dog parks, etc. There are many opportunities for exploring the area on foot. The high tension lines to the west have open fields underneath for walking, and farther south there is a marsh with woods with ponds you can walk around on. Not many people know about that little woods, but there is a lot of land like that hidden away around here.

Anything else you can think of that would be important to a potential buyer?

If you’re not from the area, Osseo Meat Market is your new steak shop. Unless you want to drive to Omaha, you won’t find better steaks. Treat them well. Omni brewing is your new local brewer. The restaurants in town are packed all the time, but you can ALWAYS get a table at Claddagh on main street, and the food is pretty good. Live music at the Lookout is worth a look. You won’t be alone. You’ll notice every yard on this street has a crabapple tree. This is one of the largest, and they’re incredible when they’re all in bloom.

Utility providers and average utility costs?

Internet: Comcast – they have a monopoly so you’re stuck. $75.00 per month.
