The real reason you need to remove family photos when selling.

You probably have already heard that you should remove family photo when you are getting your home ready to sell. But do you know why?
It's true that you want the buyers to imagine themselves in the home, but more importantly we want to take away any distractions for the buyer so they can focus on the home and the home's highlights. Your wedding photo from 20 years ago may be precious to you, but when you have family pictures hanging all over the home, the buyers will almost always stop and look to see if they recognize anyone in the photos. This means they are not focusing on the features of the home.

Help the buyers focus on the highlights of the home, not your personal photos. Most pictures of babies and old fashioned black and white pictures are not as distracting, but use them sparingly. Take down any signs, plaques or awards with your name on them because again, the buyers will try to figure out if they know you, instead of looking at your house.
